What is the IEC (Import And Export Code)?

The Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a mandatory 10-digit identification number required for import and export activities in India. It is issued by the DGFT( Directorate General of Foreign Trade), Ministry of Commerce and Industries. 

The IEC facilitates international trade operations by enabling individuals or businesses to import or export goods and services. How to register for IEC through portal?

Go to the DGFT website at

Click on the “Apply for New Import Export Code (IEC) or Modify existing IEC” option.

Enter your PAN details, including your name, date of incorporation or birth, and captcha code.

Submit the basic details and proceed to enter your mobile number and email address. Generate and enter the OTP (One-Time Password).

Provide your company details, such as your company’s name, address, nature of the company, business activity, and bank account information.
